Via fierceawakenings on LJ, this video discussing where current cybernetic prosthetic limbs and vision are currently, and how they are developing in real life. As FA says, "This is awesome."
Of course, with my Cyborg Sleeps fictional story, in which a cyborg has an artificial limb and artificial eyes, it was very interesting to me on that level as well. The world of Cyborg Sleeps is on a slightly different basis, because magic is an integral part of their technological world and is a part of how their cyborg technology works, but seeing how close to reality the ideas might be is still fascinating.
I am also reminded that there are times when I speak of my glasses as "my eyes", for instance, when I can't find them - in some way, quite a lot of us use some form of technological enhancement for our day-to-day functions, and while there's no cybernetics in glasses, they are still technology in action.

This blog is intended to be a place where I can develop my thoughts freely and get free and honest responses. Essentially, it is my safe space, and for that reason I have elected to maintain this blog as a moderated space. However, I am opposed in general to censorship and believe that usually the best way to kill a bad idea is with a better one, so very few comments will be rejected. Comments designed to cause offence for the sake of it (e.g. abusive or inflammatory remarks with no other content), or else those that I feel cross a boundary of human decency, are most likely to be rejected.
