Sack Kay Burley Petition

Apparently, interviewer Kay Burley on Sky News made the following comment to the partner of the man convicted of murdering five prostitutes in Ipswich:

‘Do you think if you’d had a better sex life, he wouldn’t have done this?’

Needless to say, such a sentiment is totally unacceptable, and there is a petition now up to get the interviewer sacked for making the remark.

Please go along and lend your support.

2 things wot people said:

  1. Wow, i'm seriously appalled. This is truely unacceptable. Has this caused any outrage or backlash other than on blogosphre?

  2. Hi, blackstone:

I think Sky News doesn't have a big share of the viewing figures, sso it's quite likely that a lot of people just didn't know about it (I didn't until I found a reference to it on the blogosphere).

I haven't heard anything about it outside of the blogosphere, and I fear that this is because such comments are far too common, and very often they go unchallenged.

Comments Moderation Policy

This blog is intended to be a place where I can develop my thoughts freely and get free and honest responses. Essentially, it is my safe space, and for that reason I have elected to maintain this blog as a moderated space. However, I am opposed in general to censorship and believe that usually the best way to kill a bad idea is with a better one, so very few comments will be rejected. Comments designed to cause offence for the sake of it (e.g. abusive or inflammatory remarks with no other content), or else those that I feel cross a boundary of human decency, are most likely to be rejected.
